Pat has been commissioned to take an old panel, salvage as much as possible and then re-use the glass and the basic design to make a new panel for the centre of a door, slightly larger than the original panel.
As the project progresses a picture diary will be maintained here.
As of 17/4/2024 salvage and cleaning of the glass is complete. Now to create a drawing of the final design.
Having completed glass salvage and tried to make the salvaged glass fit, a final design and linework have been developed. Breakage during salvage means one additional clear glass will be selected and two salvaged pieces of clear glass may need to be re-cut to get the glass to fit together without any holes. If this is the case they will be replaced with clear waterglass which is very similar. Even allowing this, there may be challenges getting the core of the pattern to fit, as may be clear from looking at the line-work in that area.
